I was happy to see a news announcement today that Pixar's groundbreaking short "Luxo Jr." has been declared as a national treasure:
http://www.loc.gov/today/pr/2014/14-210.html. I forget how lucky I was to be colleagues with luminaries like Eben Ostby and Bill Reeves during my 10 years at Pixar.
"Luxo Jr." is an inspiration for the work my team is now doing, where we're trying to prove through a short story experience that VR is not just for games.
By luck, I was working on a shadertoy that was inspired by this pioneering short. Rendered in milliseconds... the hard way...
